PVPUSD RECREATION/COMMUNITY
PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT
ADULT
EDUCATION
Adult Education Meets
Community Needs
Adult Education makes up one
third of the PVPUSD Recreation & Community Programs Department.
Adult Education is the continuing branch of the Palos Verdes Peninsula
Unified School District open to all adults, 18 years and older.
Adult Education offers a
wide variety of courses, from one day seminars to weekly classes
designed to meet the interests and needs of our community
resident. Our instructors are experts in their fields. Some
currently teach in our district, while others bring practical
"hands-on" experience to their classes.
PVPUSD employs instructors
from the Palos Verdes Peninsula and South Bay communities. The
District neither recommends, endorses, or sponsors any services these
individuals provide outside adult education classes.
Class tuition pays for
instructor's salaries, operations, and overall clerical and
administrative support. Depending on the desires of the students,
under-enrolled classes will either be cancelled or the fees may be
increased to keep the class solvent. Some classes are fully or
partially financed by the State of California.
Course selection is based on
interest surveys, requests, and availability of instructors.
Recommendations for new courses from community residents and students
are encouraged. If you are interested in teaching a course in your
area of expertise, please contact us for a Course Proposal Form.
